Airports Authority of India and NIIT Technologies launch multi-airport AOCC at Chennai Airport

Secretary MOCA inaugurates the Airport Operations Control Centre

Chennai, July 02 2014: Sh. Ashok Lavasa, IAS, Secretary Ministry of Civil Aviation (MOCA), Govt. of India formally inaugurated the Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC) and Data Centre at the Chennai Airport in presence of the officials from Airports Authority of India (AAI), representatives of NIIT Technologies and their partners who executed the contract. This implementation is a part of the first phase of airports modernization plan to be rolled out by AAI across 10 airports in India. The multi-airport model integrates with key Airport Systems and is capable of managing multiple Airports through common Airport Operational Database (AODB). The solutions involving Airport Management System and Resource Management System supplied by SITA have been implemented and integrated with the existing key airport systems.

The implementation of AOCC will enable Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) among all stakeholders at the Airport optimizing airport resources and operations. All stakeholders use single Airport Operations Database (AODB) to take decisions to align their objectives with the overall planning and objectives of the Airport. This will also help all the stakeholders to collaborate to avoid conflicts and take advance actions to efficiently handle disruptions due to local situations or situations occurring at other airports.

NIIT Technologies has also designed, architected and delivered the state of art Data center in collaboration with OEM's and partners like Nikom Infrasolutions and many more.  They will be responsible for operations of the same for next 7 years.

AAI spokesperson said, "The Chennai airport managed by AAI will now have accurate real-time data from a single source which will provide passengers a seamless experience of improved check-in, boarding and other self-service facilities".

This is the first multi airport installation in Asia which will enable information sharing across 10 airports instantly and hence benefits AAI, airlines, and other stake-holders at the airports.

NIIT Technologies spokesperson said, "This technological advancement will help contribute in the future growth of Indian aviation sector and provide the passengers of Chennai Airport, a world-class experience".

The project is a key initiative undertaken by Civil Aviation ministry towards modernization of Indian airports to improve capacity utilization, passenger throughput, stakeholder management and process standardization.
