Smooth Takeoff: Modernizing a Legacy Ramp Handling System
Overview.
A major aviation group struggled with an outdated ramp handling system hindering operational efficiency. Coforge's cloud-based migration and modernization approach streamlined processes, increased visibility, and boosted ground handling efficiency.
Existing legacy application was built on Sybase and Power builder and was becoming a maintenance challenge due to its outdated technology, expired support for the products and complexities in its monolithic implementation. The client was facing the following challenges:
Legacy System Limitations: The client's existing on-premise ramp handling system lacked agility, flexibility, scalability, integration capabilities, and real-time data access.
Manual Processes: Manual data entry and paper-based workflows hampered efficiency and increased the risk of errors.
Limited Visibility: Lack of real-time data insights hindered proactive decision-making and ground operations optimization.
Slower GTM and release cycles
Enhancements were expensive and risky
Solution.
A complete rewrite of the existing application was done using microservices architecture and web enabled user interface. The application designed for cloud provided agility and a flexible architecture that was able to adopt technologies like Kubernetes and Angular.
