Establishing Performance Testing Services for a Multi-National Airline Company
Overview.
A large British-Spanish multinational airline holding company that operates five airlines and offers scheduled passenger air transportation services at domestic and international levels. It also provides air cargo and aircraft related information technology services.
Coforge has been providing Quality Engineering services to this multinational airline company for more than 20 years with a team of 90+ members, but presence of Performance testing and engineering was very limited. Focus was more on functional aspects with non-functional validations were done in silos.
Once the organization planned to migrate their critical on-prem systems to cloud, it was very much essential to create Performance Baselines of the critical applications in “As-Is” state, followed by Performance Benchmarks of the migrated applications in “To-Be” state. The aim was to validate Performance & Scalability of the migrated applications and to identify potential Performance issues/bottlenecks.
Solution.
Considering the challenges, Coforge proposed to build a core Performance testing team and follow a phased approach:
Start with creating Performance testing scripts for critical scenarios across critical applications, planned to be migrated
Create Performance Baselines of the applications in ‘As-Is’ state
Create Performance Benchmarks of the applications in ‘To-Be’ state post Cloud migration
Carry out Performance Regression Cycles for future releases
