The client, the UK's leading Railway Infrastructure Manager, provides passenger and freight rail services. It required enhanced data management and processing capabilities.
The client embarked on a technology transformation journey to upgrade their data management and processing capabilities to improve efficiency, scalability, and informed decision-making. They aimed to adopt International Industry Standard data formats, migrating from legacy file formats. The existing unstructured data was difficult to comprehend and reuse, posing challenges in obtaining detailed train movement data and mappings.
Solution.
The Coforge project team took an approach to decode the older data processing methods by clearly outlining project requirements and business cases. The solution centered around MuleSoft Anypoint Platform for system integration, Azure Cosmos DB for data lookups, audit, and logging, and Azure Synapse for persisting XML and JSON data and analytics. The newly formatted data is now coherent, recyclable, and generates all necessary operational reports and analytics around train movements.
Results:
The client can now easily read and repurpose data at a large scale, unlocking multiple benefits such as insights and analytics.
Data is now classified, segregated, and stored appropriately for easy access and consumption as required.
