Overview.
Our client, a leading Asian Airline, was facing safety and compliance issues with the ramp management system. Their outdated legacy system was presenting maintenance challenge due to expired product support and complexities in its monolithic implementation. To address the multiple issues, the client partnered with Coforge to design a system that allowed users to harvest unique service values and increase the serviceability of their airport ecosystem.
Existing legacy application, built on Sybase and Power Builder, was posing significant risks to the airline, such as:
Rigid application structure to allow any changes
Risky and expensive enhancements
Slower GTM and extended-release cycles
This monolithic implementation, outdated technology, and no platform support made it challenging for the airline to maintain. In addition, the legacy system lacked advanced security measures and was incapable of integrating modern data collection. Our client’s system was struggling to keep up with the airline industry’s changing regulations, causing compliance issues.
Solution.
A complete rewrite of the existing application was done using microservices architecture and web-enabled user interface. The cloud-based architecture provided agility, flexibility, and scalability and was ready to adopt technologies, like Kubernetes and Angular. In addition, we powered the new system by:
