Synopsis

Departure Control System/mainframe modernization and migration is one of the critical business applications that are used by a customer directly to check in and check out to the platform using their boarding pass. This system is also used for seat changes, seat booking, overwrite, check-in, re-accommodations (following canceled train, or broken coach), management of closing reservations, and opening check-in per station. It acts as an operational management tool for the stations.

As the application is responsible for so much in relation to getting our passengers on and off the trains. It is considered one of the critical applications that ensure that the business runs effectively. This system has many up-and-down integrated systems along with revenue-generated systems.

About the Client

A high-speed train service provider, the client connects the United Kingdom to other parts of Europe. The client was the official train carrier for the 2012 London Olympics and links over 100 destinations across Europe.

Business Challenge

Being in the travel industry and living in the fast pace of changing world, the client was having a tough time managing this system with the hosting vendor. It was not only the slow response from the hosting provider but there were many unknown layers of system integration, technical configuration, and environment setup. Any changes in the system required huge efforts in coordination to make that schedule and successful.
